In rugby, playing time is set at a total of 80 minutes, with two 40- minute half times, compared with four 15-minute quarters for American football. These periods of play are followed by a 12-minute halftime after the first two quarters. The second difference is the total number of players on the field. Rugby football is a game derived from football at Rugby School in England in 1823 and is now played throughout the world. It is a team game, 15 players per side, played on a field not exceeding 100m x 70m, with an oval ball which may be kicked, carried and passed. |
